Armando Trevino Celebrates 25 Years With CHRISTUS Our Daily Bread

At CHRISTUS Our Daily Bread, we believe that healing begins with compassion, and sometimes, it starts with a warm meal served with dignity. This year, we celebrate a remarkable milestone: 25 years of volunteer service by Armando Treviño, a Galveston resident whose dedication has nourished both body and soul.
Armando’s journey began in 2000, when a personal health challenge led him to seek a new purpose. Encouraged by his wife to give back, he walked into Our Daily Bread and was asked to help in the kitchen. What started as a simple act of service quickly became a calling. With decades of experience at Gaido’s, Armando brought restaurant-quality care to every plate, insisting on fresh ingredients, clean preparation and beautiful presentation. “If you’ve got a pretty plate in front of you,” he says, “you’ve already tasted it before you’ve tasted it.”
While now assisting manager of food services Lonnie Harris, Armando remains the heart of the kitchen – leading meal preparation, mentoring volunteers and setting the standard for excellence. His leadership ensures that every guest was treated with dignity and care.
Even during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when services were scaled back and uncertainty loomed, Armando remained a steady presence. With a small team, he prepared to-go meals for up to 100 individuals daily, ensuring that no one was left hungry or forgotten.
His work exemplifies the mission you help support: extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ through food, compassion and community. Armando’s meals are more than sustenance; they are a message of hope, a reminder that someone cares.
Thanks to your generosity, volunteers like Armando have the resources they need to serve with excellence. As we celebrate his 25 years of service, we also celebrate you – our donors – whose support makes this ministry possible.
