Patients’ Well-Being Is The Priority

RyanFor Nurse Practitioner Elizabeth Ryan, working at CHRISTUS Point of Light Clinic “is a privilege.”

Born in Maryland and raised in Atlanta, Ryan moved to Houston in 2003.  Prior to seeking her Masters, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the Medical College of Georgia and then worked in various nursing capacities for 25 years. She received her Masters in Nursing Degree at UT Health Science at Houston.

She first heard about CHRISTUS Point of Light Clinic years ago and began working there in May 2019.

While there are many things Ryan loves about being a Nurse Practitioner, her biggest love is the “interaction with patients.”

“I was a bedside nurse for 25 years, because I loved patient care,” Ryan said. “That is still true.”

Ryan’s favorite part of working at CHRISTUS Point of Life is the embodiment of the Mission Statement “extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.”

“Point of Light has a warm compassionate environment where patients’ well-being is the priority,” Ryan said.

She was touched by a recent patient “because of her determination.”  The patient is in her 60’s and strives daily to be healthy.

“She regularly visits our nutritionist to learn about a balanced diet, so she can control her diabetes,” Ryan said. “She participates in her follow up visits and asks questions, if she does not understand. She is grateful for the opportunity to maintain and improve her health.”

When not at the clinic, Ryan enjoys spending time with her five children and husband of 27 years.
