Serving Hope and Safety at CHRISTUS Our Daily Bread

For 27-year-old Daniel Griffin, Non Commission Security Officer with Central investigation & Security Solutions, the challenge of assessing and providing a safe place for both clients and staff, is never dull.

A Day in Daniel’s Shoes

Griffin helps clients look at things objectively all while securing their daylong stay at CHRISTUS Our Daily Bread for two meals, medical and mental health services. It goes without saying, that experiencing homelessness can leave people feeling drained, depressed and devoid of hope.

“I feel like I am helping the community while being part of a great thing on the island (Galveston Island),” said Griffin. “To help people who really need it and keep them safe from the elements and harm is a blessing.”

Hurricane Harvey is the reason Griffin became part of the CHRISTUS Our Daily Bread family. His family home was destroyed by the flood waters.

A Blessing from Tragedy

“Experiencing Harvey was nothing short of devastating and heartbreaking. During the storm my daughter was born,” said Griffin. “When we left the hospital days later we had no idea what we would return to only to find out everything was gone.” His family lost everything.

After eight months of moving from one FEMA sanctioned hotel to the other Griffin and his family found themselves hunting for their next home once again. During that search, he kept hearing about the helpful staff at CHRISTUS Our Daily Bread and decided to go get whatever help he could from them. The rest, as they say, is history.

“CHRISTUS Our Daily Bread brought joy and hope back into my family’s life,” said Griffin. “Everyone here is like family. Everyone here is caring, loving and great people to be around and work with. The hope and joy I have received is now something I can share with every client that walks through our doors.
