CHRISTUS St. Mary’s Clinic Attention to Detail Puts You in a Different Frame of Mind
CHRISTUS St. Mary’s Clinic is not your typical run-of-the-mill clinic. The clinic staff see an average of 65 people per day walk through their doors. Hours upon hours of preparation goes into getting the facility and medical professionals ready for your appointment.
Getting Ready for You
Medical emergencies are not fun. Understanding that, Director of CHRISTUS St. Mary’s Clinic, Sister Rosanne Popp, M.D, and the clinic staff meticulously prepares everything from vaccines to patient charts well in advance of a patient’s visit. In the end, the goal is to have patients walk out of their appointment informed, confident and assured that they can do the work and take their health into their own hands.
Dr. Popp’s day is a constant exchange of paperwork and patients, calls and procedures, emails and notifications. The staff fills in by doing everything that is needed before they see Dr. Popp. That means being vaccinated, getting blood drawn and updating charts and more before the patient steps into the room with Dr. Popp.
Team Effort
Having a medical staff that cares enough to go beyond the call of duty for each patient is a blessing. A blessing that should alleviate your fears and intimidation surrounding your medical plan, results or next visit. The day’s preparation begins the day before and continues through the early morning hours before the clinic doors are unlocked and open to accept the first patients of the day, at 7:45 a.m.
“We get here early and try to get everything started,” said Dr. Popp. “We have a system — two staff members come early to do blood draws and the other hits the ground running with administrative tasks.”
Dr. Popp wakes up at 5 a.m. She arrives at the clinic by 6 a.m. to cone off parking spaces for the Rose or MD Anderson mammogram mobile units to have adequate parking space to see patients who need breast exams, before following up on patient response emails and chart updates.
“Patients get here very early, forming a line outside the door,” said Dr. Popp.
