On Friday, November 8, CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare received a $3 million gift from CHRISTUS Health to aid in finishing construction of the new CHRISTUS St. Mary’s Clinic building. This generous gift will allow CHRISTUS Foundation for Healthcare the ability to build a larger facility than originally planned and address issues related to Hurricane Harvey, including revised building standards and flood regulations.

Through the construction of this larger facility, CHRISTUS St. Mary’s Clinic will now serve as the hub of the St. Austin Center, enabling CHRISTUS to be the leader in creating a true, comprehensive community center for Houston’s East End.

A larger space was also necessary as the old building was becoming too small to serve the needs of the community. CHRISTUS St. Mary’s Clinic will double its footprint – from 4,500 to 8,000 square feet. The entire building is 17,000 square feet and will allow for additional clinic growth as needed, as well as provide space for community partners.

The new St. Mary’s Clinic will open to patients in early February 2020, with a dedication of the completed St. Austin’s Center in April 2020.
