CHRISTUS Healthy Living Mobile Clinics Provides Children’s Immunizations in East End

On Saturday, February 8, the CHRISTUS Healthy Living Mobile Clinics provided immunizations for students from J.P. Henderson Elementary School and other area schools at the new St. Mary’s Clinic location. The Mobile Clinics was recently made aware that 77 students at the school were delinquent in their vaccines this semester, keeping them from returning to school. The majority of the students were recent immigrants from Guatemala.

“The immunization clinic at St. Mary’s allowed us to get these new families in the area up to date with their vaccines for school enrollment,” said Nancy Bocanegra, CHRISTUS Healthy Living Mobile Clinics Coordinator.

Staff from both CHRISTUS St. Mary’s Clinic and Healthy Living Mobile Clinics participated along with volunteers from the CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare, CHRISTUS Physicians Group and UH.

According to CHRISTUS St. Mary’s Clinic Medical Director Sister Rosanne Popp, M.D., the new clinic served as a great location for the event. “Using the clinic made the vaccine clinic much more efficient, because of the increased space, and we were still able to have our regular clinic on the same day.”
