Meet The Volunteer Doctors of CHRISTUS St. Mary’s Clinic

The volunteer doctors at CHRISTUS St. Mary’s Clinic play a critical role in the overall health of its patients. Dr. David Wolf, Podiatry, and Dr. Enrique Batres, Dermatology, offer an additional layer of care not available to our underserved patients. “The dedication and attention to our mission is outstanding,” Sister Rosanne Popp, Medical  Director of CHRISTUS St. Mary’s Clinic, said.

Dr. Enrique Batres

Now in his sixth year of volunteering at CHRISTUS St. Mary’s Clinic, Dr. Enrique Batres says the clinic brings him joy. A dermatologist, Dr. Batres learned about St. Mary’s Clinic when he met Sister Rosanne Popp, M.D. at Casa Maria Medical Clinic. Born and raised in Guatemala, he attended medical school at Universidad de San Carlos in Guatemala City. Retired from private practice, Dr. Batres attends to St. Mary’s Patients on Wednesdays.

“It’s inspiring to see the staff greet all patients cordially, with respect. You can tell they love to care for them. Equally inspiring is to witness their willingness to help each other. I feel blessed to be part of this team.”

Dr. David Wolf

A native Houstonian, Dr. David Wolf is a graduate of Bellaire High School and continued his studies in Pre Med at University of Texas. He received his podiatric medical degree from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine and performed his surgical residency in Detroit, Michigan.

Following his residency, Dr. Wolf was a Captain at the Air Force Academy Hospital as a podiatry officer. He was in private practice in Houston, working part time at Kelsey Seybold Clinic and UT Health, and has been retired since 2015. Dr. Wolf has been volunteering at CHRISTUS St. Mary’s Clinic for the last four years. In addition to St. Mary’s Clinic, he also spends time volunteering at San Jose Clinic and Healthcare for the Homeless.

“The clinics that I proudly volunteer at serve the people of Houston who are uninsured, migrant or homeless. It’s like ‘defending the indefensible’. My volunteerism gives me a real sense of purpose and meaning at this time in my life. Our patients are very grateful and appreciative of our care which gives us as much back as we give.”
