A Healthy Start for Back To School
Annually, CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare hosts a series of Back To School events, providing sports physicals, vaccinations and backpacks filled with school supplies to area children.
Our Back To School events kicked off with CHRISTUS Point of Light in Dickinson. Nurse Practitioner Elizabeth Ryan provided sports physicals for those children playing school-based sports, while CHRISTUS Healthy Living Mobile Clinics administered school-required vaccines in addition to the COVID vaccine to qualifying children and parents. Over 150 backpacks were distributed, equipping students with the necessary tools for class.
Our CHRISTUS St. Mary’s Clinic event cared for students from schools throughout the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and from the East End community. The clinic was grateful to have volunteer physicians and staff from CHRISTUS Trinity and CHRISTUS Health to assist the St. Mary’s staff in serving the large numbers of families that came through that day. The Mobile Clinics staff was on-hand to administer vaccines, and the UT School of Dental Hygienists brought a team that did dental screenings and referral for further dental visits. Sisters Juana Matias and Madeleva Manazares also provided support.
A special thanks to all who assisted in sending hundreds of area students back to school for a healthy year.
