Since 1983, Operation San José Mission Trip has provided annual surgical missions to Latin America to provide free surgical repair to indigent children born with cleft lip and palate deformities.

Clinic Providers
Dr. Michael A. Lypka is a board certified plastic surgeon and an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. He graduated from the dental school at the University of Sasktchewan in Canada in 2000.
He assumed the role of Director of Operation San Jose Mission Trip / Cronin Brauer Cleft Lip / Palate Clinic following the retirement of Dr. Ernest Cronin in 2016. As Dr. Cronin's chief resident in Houston's Methodist Plastic Surgery program, Dr. Lypka attended his first trip with Operation San Jose in 2009, an experience he would never forget. He then volunteered on subsequent trips every year after that. Dr.
Lypka currently works full time at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. He has an appointment at the UMKC school of medicine, as well as the department of orthodontics at the UMKC school of dentistry. He focuses his efforts on craniomaxillofacial reconstruction.

Cronin & Brauer Cleft Lip and Palate Clinic
With a 50-year legacy in the field of plastic surgery, the Cronin & Brauer Cleft Lip and Palate Clinic helps children and adults face the world the way they should, with a healthy smile and winner. The Cronin-Brauer Cleft Lip and Palate Clinic is the oldest and one of the most respected programs in the country. Clinic leaders are Dr. Steven J. Blackwell (Galveston) and Dr. Eric Payne (Houston). All surgeries take place in Galveston, which pre- and post-op consultations are held in the clinic office located in Houston's Medical Center.
